Very lively under gennaker even in light winds: Bavaria Cruiser 37 in the YACHT exclusive test
Barely in the water, YACHT has already tested build number 1 of the new Bavaria Cruiser 37. Here are the first pictures from the Baltic Sea

Yesterday, Fridtjof Gunkel, Head of Test & Technology at YACHT, was able to sail the successor to the successful Cruiser 36 in light winds - in the Kiel Fjord, where the sailing highlight of the season begins tomorrow.

The boat is a very comprehensive further development with a new deck, completely redesigned cockpit - now with two helm stations - and a modified cabin layout. This makes the boat, which was already solid and in demand in the previous version, more attractive in every respect.

Because Bavaria has moved the bulkheads slightly forwards and long superstructure windows provide more light below deck, the Cruiser 37 appears even more spacious and brighter below deck.

The biggest surprise, however, was the sailing behaviour. Although she is not exactly lavishly loaded, the Cruiser 37 reworked by Farr Yacht Design was already very lively in 6 to 7 knots of wind, picked up speed quickly after the tacks and was downright spirited under gennaker. At the same time, she was sensitive to the rudder.

You can read the detailed test of the Bavaria Cruiser 37 with an analysis of the competition in YACHT 16-2013 (on newsstands from 17 July). The large picture gallery is available here on YACHT online in advance.
